9 Spring Trends to Get Now

Nine Baby, Not None! Spring Trends to Grab Now

These are my favorite trends for this spring. I chose them because they look good on almost anyone. They are great investment pieces and I believe they have staying power. While there are many other trends this season, not all of them are worth buying.

  1. Pop of Color Lipstick: Go Big and Go Bold

Pink or Orchid are a must. Corals, Reds, and Oranges are great too. I love matte formulations. They stay put and don’t bleed out. If that’s too bold for you, try creamy formulas or a strong lip-gloss with lots of saturated color. Give this look a try and move out of your comfort zone.

  2. Track or Athletic Pieces: Adds The Right Sporty Mix

Bomber jackets, track pants (with elastic at the cuff or loose bottomed), side striped trousers, gym shirts, team t-shirts or jerseys. Think athletic worn with sheer, mesh, white shirts, and big oversized bright blazers. Pair with pointed toe high-heeled pumps or strappy high heel sandals. Only wear one-track element at a time or you’ll look like a fashion victim.

  3. High Heeled Stilettos: Loads of Style and Longevity

It’s the #1 fashion investment this year. High thin heels with closed pointed toe or semi-pointed toes. High thin strappy sandals fit into this category too. Perfect with denims, track pants, dresses, long skirts, or eveningwear. A must have for any chic on-trend woman. Great in pastels, brights or neutrals.

  4. White Shirts: Button Up for Instant Menswear Style

A white shirt adds just the right fresh element of toned down style to anything you own! Button it up all the way, roll up the long or short sleeves and tuck it in. Wear it in the right size or slightly slouchy: softly ironed and un-starched. If your bust is large, use double stick garment tape between the bust line buttons.

  5. Long Tea Length Full Skirts: The Must Have Alternative to Pants

While shorter skirts are still in, the tea length skirt feels right on trend this season. It’s ultra feminine and is offered in a myriad of fabrics from leather to lace. Opt for ones with fitted inset waistline that fall below the calf.

  6. The Crop Top: Newest Warm Weather Silhouette

This is the number one freshest look you can add to your wardrobe. Designed to be work with high-waisted pants, denims, skirts or shorts. Intended to be geometric in shape with clean lines that hit right above the waistband, showing only 1-2 inches of midriff peeping out. Crops make wearing high waistlines easy with nothing to tuck in and no added bulk. Caution: not good on all body types. Avoid if you don’t like the way your waistline or abs look.

  7. Sheer or Mesh Fabrics: Meant for Soft Layering

As menswear touches continue into this season, sheer fabrics add just the right breezy soft touch. The easiest way to wear this look is in tank tops, blouses, short sleeve box cut tops, skirts and dresses. Wear tops over a tank top or sports bra for day and only a lacey bra for evening sexiness. Sheer dresses and skirts are best when partially lined. If they’re not, wear over a long fitted tank t-shirt or opaque slip.

  8. Soft Pastels: Ice Cream and Sorbet Colors

From pink nudes to baby blues, nothing looks fresher than soft pastels right now. They look stunning whether worn in a monochromatic way or layered with two or three shades of pale. Try using them as an accent too: as a belt, shimmery eye shadow, shoes, hair band or a handbag. A touch of pastel over black, navy or grey adds a feminine alluring edge to any year round classic wardrobe.

  9. Bohemian Chic: 70’s Hippy Charm

Embroidery, light soft silks, fringe, ethnic prints, slouchy, layered, chic.

Perfect to wear with denims, shorts, skinny jeans, or over your favorite swimsuit. Pair with cowboy boots, strappy sandals, high heels or flats.

Layer with long necklaces and bracelets. Braid your hair or wear it in loose beachy waves or put it in a messy topknot. Let the hippy in you lose this summer and run in the sand.
