Behind-the-scenes of AFW with milk + honey

Unless you’re a stylist or you’ve seen a TV special, you’ve probably never experienced being behind-the-scenes of Fashion Week. Whether it’s Fashion Week in NYC, LA or ATX, all hair and make-up stylists use their unique set of skills backstage to create the most fashionable looks of the week onstage. Fans, however, hardly ever get to witness the hard work stylists put into these looks- instead, they usually only see the final product on the models strutting down the runway.

But tonight all that changes with the first night of a two-part Fashion Week event, Runway Ready by milk + honey.

Starting at 6pm, milk + honey Hill Country Galleria will take you behind the scenes of Austin Fashion Week and show you how stylists transform clients into runway models. This event is not only about the fabulous looks stylists create, but also how they get there - the hard work that goes into the preparation and transformation of models from the stylist’s chair to the runway. Attendees of this event will not only get a complimentary glass of bubbly and a chance to win an awesome prize with a random drawing, but also a new-found appreciation for the hard work of hair stylists, whether they’re preparing models for an AFW fashion show or giving you the new fall color you’ve had your eye on.

Part two begins same time Thursday at the downtown location, milk + honey spa.

In addition to giving you a sneak peek at what goes on behind-the-scenes of Austin Fashion Week, each salon location is paired with an innovative jewelry designer. Models will showcase the jewelry and one-of-a-kind pieces will be on sale for purchase by attendees.

Tonight, the Galleria location is paired with Briolette Jewelry, by Nicole Martinez and Jayne Malasko. According to an exclusive interview with milk + honey, Nicole Martinez and Jayne Malasko believe “[e]very woman needs a fantastic statement necklace that can be worn to highlight casual daywear and compliment evening attire.” Maybe you will find your statement piece tonight.

On Thursday, the downtown location will be paired with Melissa Borrell- who in another interview with milk + honey says, “I like to challenge people’s notions of what jewelry can be and often create pieces that have double lives; it doesn’t look like jewelry until you put it on.”

Events will be held at (today) 12901 Hill Country Blvd. D1-110 Bee Cave, Texas 78738 and (Thursday) 204 Colorado St. Austin, Texas 78701. Both are free showcase events from 6:00pm-9:00pm.
